The Long Night

Hi there, well its been quite a long time and alots happened since I last blogged,

The band I joined welcomed a new guitarist (who is phenomenal), and we're seriously considering auditioning for 'Enter Metallica' ,after going for Absolution , playing on stage looked like alot of fun :).

Oh yes Absolution was by far the best gig I've ever had the pleasure of attending, my favourite acts being 'Avarice' and 'Death of Eighty', unfortunately we had to leave early for a party that I'm going to talk about in a bit.

Ok now seems right,

Drove there with Hitesh,Behlul and Kaiwan right after Absolution ,

Almost got hit by a rash driver as well as being annoyed by the same (yes Ryan , this means you).

Managed to have a good time (yes there was an open bar) despite the music and other issues which I'm not really going to get into.

Around 15-20 drinks later, the epilepsy inducing strobe light didn't make give me as much as a headache as it had before, in fact everything looked like an old movie.

It's amazing how many amazing thoughts one can have under the influence of alcohol, I felt so poetic yet sad , knowing that I wouldn't remember any of the fresh, original thoughts I had lined up by the time I got up the next morning.

The turnout was pretty massive but its not like I didn't know anyone there ,and the venue kicked ass (kudos to whoever organised it).

Anyway, around 2 AM, we kinda wrapped up, and Yash was left with 2 drunk guys who had no way to get home, he asked me to stay and I did (yes I was still a little under the influence).

Drunkguy #2 was fast asleep outside on a couch with fresh puke all over his shirt,a bottle of water was hence poured all over him and he was awoken.

Drunkguy #1 & Drunkguy #2 were loaded into the car they came in, Yash drove the car and followed me and Behlul in mine and I showed em where DG#1 lived.

A few panic-stricken moments later we finally woke up DG#2 and Behlul escorted the Drunk Duo upstairs while me and Yash parked the car somewhere.

After that we went upstairs and DG#2 was sprawled on the floor and DG#1 was fiddling with the keys to the apartment, upon failure on opening the door, I took the keys and saw that there was only ONE.

A few more panic-stricken moments later we left them on a floor higher and made our way home.

Now I'm not a bad person , it did strike me later that leaving them like that probably wasn't the best thing to do, but it was the ONLY thing.

I spoke to the duo the next morning and they were fine, I told them everything that happened the night before and found out that DG#1 was trying to open the door with DG#2's key while his own keys were in his pocket.

*intermission while hair is torn off head*

That was officially the longest night of my life and I have a bottle of tequila to thank for that.

In other news I got a spanking new 50 Watt Crate amp for my bass :D, heavy though , couldn't fit it in my trunk when I bought it >.<.

Thats about it for now, tune in next time blah blah.....

Btw , small song recommendation

Right now I'm trying to find an affordable/powerful bass amp, I'll be needing it for jam sessions since I've been using Sathvik's Aria as of late.

More later

Go now, shoo!.

The Shadowlands

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Ryan Adams - The Shadowlands

Ritu sent me this song today and I listened to it,

For around 45 minutes.

Its safe to say that Ryan Adams has got style/finesse/whatever , in spades, I never gave him much interest before but then I heard 'So Alive' and it sounded so musically refreshing in this musical era full of bands that sound exactly the same,

If you liked his cover of 'Wonderwall' , you will really love this song, so go get it now :).

What my impression of what the song meant was that,

The Shadowlands is a place where people go after they suffer a great loss,
You lose something so dear to your heart that all thats left is the mere shadows that may have accented it before.

Alot of the lyrics in the song caught my eye , especially when Ryan says that you may never find true love, 'so sometimes you can just be a man'

Just a man, alone to mourn in the shadowlands.

I wouldn't go as far as to say stuff like "lyrical genius" but if anyone told me that Mr.Adams could never write, I'd show them this song.

The song in general is written like a prayer, the soft piano in the background takes up the first half of the song and sets the mood as Ryan sings ever so softly as to help you to grasp that particular emotion the song gives out.

Towards the end, a simple, light drum beat with an acoustic guitar playing the same chords along with the piano and some really beautiful electric guitar solo work which (atleast for me) could make you think about Knopfler's light and trebly guitar ditties.

I doubt I'll get over listening to this song for quite a long time...

...but I'll be damned if I ever regret listening to it in the first place.

Wow its late ,

'Night.

Whoa is me

Woo! new 'song obsession' based post today :)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

dredg - Whoa is me

I wish I'd alot more attention to this band when I first heard about them a few years back but I probably wasn't in that stage of more mature listening back then (yeah I as an......Adema.....fan......*rolleyes*)

I haven't given a more in depth look at the lyrics to decipher its embedded meaning yet but rest assured , I will :)

From what I've heard, the booklet talks about a man dreaming in a dried up lake , and the chorus of the song it goes when the water comes, I will overflow.

There I've planted the seed of understanding, go and listen to this amazing song now and try coming up with your own conclusions as to what its about :).

Done for now.

Around the bend

So this is my first blog post for the month of June.

woo!

So I got up to jamming and finally meeting Jiten after so long at Hitesh's new apartment (or what I like to call the 'Haven') tried doing Fade to black and Master of puppets but the solos were an issue >.<.

Ohyeah Jiten if you're reading this, thanks alot for getting your 'Shaista' on while the 3 of us were stuck in CBTL >.<

monk3h d00d3h...:P

So about that other band I answered to on phride, I get a PM and a call from the drummer and now I've got to figure out a way to get to Mirdif for jam sessions :S.Hopefully after exams I could get my dad to drop me there the first couple of times , I really don't know the roads that well yet.

On the other hand I was listening to Disturbed - Remember all day and I must say, the vocals and the riff are amazing :o, its been on repeat for quite a while too.

In other news , I got really far with a new song I'm working on for Faux , its called 'Around the bend' and I'll post the lyrics as soon as I finish them and coordinate with the guitaring.Whats amazing is I can already imagine what it'll sound like with the violin score and bass line, in fact, this would be the first time I actually sang a song of my own in my head while day dreaming, it was at the tip of my tongue all day when I was in the Magrudys area when Ishita called and asked me how to spell 'goatee'

I know ,

wtf,

Hah tried learning Fur Elise today on classical guitar ^_^, just got the beginning bit down so far, I'll probably go back to it if I'm interested.

Cheers.
