Filling in the gap

I thought that I'd be back to blogging once I got my life back on track , but since I haven't even come close to that, heres a filler.

For those of you who know whats been eating me lately, I'd appreciate it if you didn't let the finer details out in the comments.

For the most part, I've really been working on my voice, atleast now I've found a way to really strain it so that I can reach higher notes, the thing is I'm not really sure if I'm using my throat or gut more, from what I've been told , I should be using my gut alot more,

Anyway, I've been singing Pearl Jam's Black so much that its starting to hurt, I can't do the ending bit as yet but I'm getting there (I hope), a song that I'm working on with Karan and Shehara is also coming into shape nicely for those of you who've either heard the draft recording or care about it, Sheharas on guitar now so I can throw in a few solos at random while she strums the chords and Karan adds to the ambience.

I've also been giving alot of interest to Crowley's 'The Book of Law' , I haven't gotten to the bulk of it yet, nor have I even begun to understand it but reading about it on Wikipedia really got me going.

Kaiwan left the country a few days ago too, hope he has a great time in Montreal , I'm waiting to leave Dubai behind myself actually, I know I'll miss it but in a way it'll be good for me, I need a vacation from this place asap, and I'm not talking about a cruise or anything, I mean a solid blockout of Dubai and everything in it for a while.

*sigh*

I'm probably going to look at this post months from now and feel as distraught as I do now.

Cheers Dayaan of the future.

Sarah if you're reading this, please make sure you sweet talk/strike/slap Sathvik into giving me the Crowley material.

I might love you for that ^_^.

Ishita if you're reading this, COME BACK TO DUBAI! :(,

P.S > Expect a new review soon, I've already got a brilliant song in mind :).

Collapse the light into earth

Porcupine Tree - Collapse the light into earth

I won't shiver in the cold
I won't let the shadows take their toll
I won't cover my head in the dark
And I won't forget you when we part
Collapse the Light Into Earth
I won't heal given time
I won't try to change your mind
I won't feel better in the cold light of day
But I wouldn't stop you if you wanted to stay
Collapse the Light Into Earth

Thought I'd run another song review on a track that I'd been neglecting for a while , it always seemed to stray in the shadow of Trains by Porcupine Tree, the song itself is pretty short and simple which is why I chose to put up the lyrics here. The other reason is because the song (like any other) is open to interpretations of it's meaning.
Feel free to comment on your own interpretations here.

As for my thoughts about the song, I always took note of the finer details in life,

the brushed aside
the silent performers
the subtle yet integral elements that mean so little to a body , and yet seem to be so important.

A great example would be a bassist in a band, (except for a select few that have managed to make their mark)

Collapse the light into earth atleast for me is the 'silent performer' behind Porcupine Tree , its written in a way that it can mean so much to almost anybody if given time to grow on you,
Simple and light with the flowy piano and blissful voices that echo in the foreground, as the song seems to take flight without the help of vocals, the violins kick in like wind on a kite and take the song right up to it's zenith.

The song itself would never be chosen as a title track to promote a band and there are alot of songs that fit that description but the fact that they're discarded and made to wait patiently on track 1x of an album makes it so rewarding upon discovery of such songs.

Coming to my own interpretation of the song's meaning.

Its still a little vague but on taking a look at the lyrics and the divinity that seems to be present in the music and lyrics to some extent,

I'd have to say that it was about God being alot more down to earth than religion makes Him out to be, and his letter is in the form of a song dedicated to mankind.

Comment at will.

As promised

So , I've been jamming alot, with Zenith though , as a vocalist.
We managed to do pull off Orestes and Nutshell in a day which is something considering our history ;).

I had to do it all without a mic at Jiten's place though , I left mine in Mirdiff >.< , but I could be heard I guess.

In other news, Rehan and Rahul are in town :D, they slept over with Karan here last night and it was loads of fun, I really missed those long late night conversations me and Rehan used to have and tonight, we caught up on alot.He even got me a Nirvana DVD which I'm going to watch in a bit.

I also watched Amityville Horror last night.
Being a person who really gets into the bones of a story ,it did freak me out quite a bit but since I watched it with equally frightened friends it was fine, I had my mind on other things the whole time.

Forgive me if this post sounds too generic, I've been made to blog everyday by virtual gunpoint by a close friend :), its not too bad I guess, hell its not bad at all, it'll probably keep me from neglecting TLJ , and maybe , MAYBE I'll get some comments in the process ^_^.

I'd also like to congratulate a certain person whose name I won't mention (you who you are) , on finding that significant other,

Good on you mate ;), you deserved it :D ,
Its just too bad the "other" had to leave so soon :(.

Oh well they all come back sometime or another.

Live 8, Live 8 , Live8

Effin' A!
Floyd,REM,Velvet Revolver,Snow patrol,The Killers,Ricky Gervais and alot more.
(Thanks alot for that link Ritu ;) ).

Did I mention how much I've been listening to Pearl Jam lately? , Oh my God, Mr. Vedder you do me right (uhm).

I've been listening to this song he did with Chris Cornell on that side project of theirs, if you ever get the chance, I really recommend Temple of the Dog - Hunger strike.

Thats it for today, tune in tomorrow blah blah.............meh.
