Disconnected

Just got back home from meeting Ritu,Behlul and Nauseen at Ghurair, and I got ready at about 9ish just to do so.Grabbed some coffee and ate about 1/4 of a Mushroom and chicken muffin pie thing at Starbucks.

Yeah I don't do that often.
Oh and I got to see The Mexx Guy who Nauseens all crazy about too :P.

I'm currently writing this on Notepad because something went wrong with my router yesterday and its broken.

I still feel kinda disconnected without the internet, I wonder if thats a bad thing at times, but then I just think about watching a movie to pass the time.

Just got back from jamming with a few guys from what was known as Coronica at Hitesh's new apartment.
Now I'm tired, but my internets back (yayz :D).

Bass is teh pwn

I love bass guitars, they're funky and stuff :)

Anyway , so I'm in the middle of my AS level exams, so far so good but I usually never know until I get my grades.I've stopped playing Guild Wars for a while because of the exams and Etisalat's accursed lag issue >.<.

Karan's 18th is coming up pretty soon :), Friday to be exact , and I'm going to give him FFX since hes had his eye on it (Karan , if you're reading this, shoo).

I'm also contemplating on using the money I'm going to get from selling my PS2 to buy a better bass than the one I'm using now , instead of going for the PSP,

I even answered to a thread on a music project that needed members on phride so if that works out, I'd need a new bass (this JumpStart would be kinda...embarassing :$) , then again I'm not amazing and it'd probably be best if I wait a while and get better, patience however, was never one of my strong points so...

NEW BASS FTW! :D

Its nice to know that my right hand speeds gotten better, I can finally manage that bit after the main riff in the beginning of Master of Puppets

The age-old , boring console war

Right,

So the Guild Wars server was a bit laggy , I'd thought it'd be a perfect time to write something here :).

Hmm consoles, consoles , consoles.

How about them eh? , you've got the PS3,Xbox 360 and some other plastic horror in the making by Nintendo.
I don't know if any of you saw The Colony mini show dedicated to showing us screen junkies the power and features of the XboX 360, pretty interesting stuff, I was on Penny Arcade when I saw the link there (http://www.ourcolony.net/ , if you want to check it out).
I always seem to fall prey to advertising campaigns, no matter how silly the product is, someone in a spiffy suit, all smiles will always be able to convince me that explosive robot worms are a good idea for fishing.
Coming to the Xbox, the design didn't really grab me at first,I was looking forward to seeing something that looked "old school" to say the least, I miss how those chunky plastic consoles looked like, the N64,PSX etc. really proclaimed fun factor in almost any game associated with it.
Now you have futuristic looking mini space ships, satin silver,polished etc. which really doesn't do anything for me.

One bit in the video changed all that for me, I think the guy was talking about how the design is concave to represent "inhaling" or something, the browser looked pretty nice too as well as the fact that you could connect it to a computer.Another small detail that tipped the odds in Microsoft's favour was the big button on the controller.

Hell it almost made me feel like I....wanted one.

Damn it.

In other news, I picked up bass again today :), I forgot how much I loved the instrument , it can seriouslly kill your finger tips though :O , mine are blistering already , and this is after playing guitar for a year.

This is going nowhere so I'm going to end it.

Its Been a while...

...since I last blogged, I've been either studying or playing Guild Wars alot, yeah I cancelled the Qpad order in the end, the thing wouldn't fit on my table anyway.

Apart from that I think I have enough tracks done for an EP :D, I'll get cracking on that this coming summer if I find the time (and I better).

Interesting thought, yesterday my dad asked me to drive with him to the Alfa showroom because of a serious oil leak in his car, just so he could get a lift back home as well.Now I drove the Alfa earlier that day to pick up Shehara and I thought my car would feel a little underpowered.

Strangely enough it didn't o.O I honestly think its got a helluva good pull on it, was alotta fun whizzing around the 4th interchange area chasing after my dad :P, he made it hard enough though with his infernal lane changes and such >.<.

Moving on,

I had the strangest dream last night,and I'm going to tell you about it if you like it or not, so hah!
I had the same one before too, I know this becaus I remember telling my sister about it, anyway here we go,

It was a world where humans had evolved, everyone had inherited some kind of power, mine was the ability to climb walls I think, I dreamt of an area straight out of a Tool video and then it faded out and I found myself in my room, and I started...climbing up walls, and I turn around and theres Thom Yorke (vox for Radiohead for those who don't know), and this big bouncer guy was helping him to climb a wall,because by the looks of it he was having trouble doing it, and I move closer to him and find that,

hes singing Muse's Sing for absolution o.O

Justin King's "Something about angels"

I thought I'd turn TLW into a more music discussion/evaluation blog as well as a place for my personal rants so you'll be seeing posts like these put up at random, not that you really care anyway.

This man has singlehandedly made me alot more interested in acoustic guitar than electric as well as really inspired me to make my own music (which I am incidentally and its coming along great :D).

I never gave this song much attention, after listening to 'Ashes' and 'August train' I was lost for words and didn't give much scope to 'Something about angels'.

I did however, while driving back home from lunch and its a really beautiful song, very easy going and Justin's voice definitely goes up there on my list , right next to Maynard James Keenan.

For those of you who haven't heard of Justin King, I feel sorry for you.

Just kidding, but do listen to his music, he isn't commercial so his material isn't really available on the market, although you can still order a CD or two from his website.

This guy is the best acoustic guitarist I've EVER come across (yes I AM taking into consideration the likes of Eric Clapton and that jazz guitarist whose name I've forgotten..again), if you still aren't convinced, I'd suggest you check out his Larrivee video on his website.

I don't know what else to say about this brilliant man, definitely a helluva role model as far as my musical interests go.

Bzzt.

A bit put off today , after typing a long post DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Association) decided I had enough of their services and promptly cut my power.Disgruntled as I was I phoned them and they said we hadn't paid our bill in 3 months , well if they'd actually GIVEN us a bill we would have known earlier >.<, great there goes my post...hmmm.

So Jiten gives me a surprise call today and I thought it was someone else :P, turns out hes here for 3 months :D woo! LAN parties and Jam sessions :D.Sam and Chris, you foos better be on your way too.

I think I got the song I was working on down to pat, first two verses for the lyrics are done too, the rest will flow out of me later on. Now I just need the other two (Shehara and Karan) to get their parts down.

Whee probably going to go for shisha today :D.

This was followed by me acquiring the lyrics, and then immersing myself into a quiet state of rapture , much like I do for the few other songs that really caught my attention.

    Guilty as charged

    Yes I still play CS , but for money :D , 60 bucks a week isn't bad considering theres no way in hell you can lose to those junkies who roam the nicotine soaked walls of Qclub.

    However its all going to end soon , with everyone going their separate ways and me getting pissed off at them for a number of reasons.

    I do ONE mistake in-game and I get hell for it , it put me off so much I even asked Anas to cancel my Qpad order, to be honest I'd feel better playing Guild Wars than enhancing the smoothness of my mouse sweeps on a vulcanized rubber mat thats large enough to fold around my arm atleast three times.

    Then you tend to stop and think, followed by laughter.

    Performance mouse pads?

    Purpose built mice?

    Sponsorships for playing video games?

    Christ...

    Its bad enough the town folk in this part of the world are deprived of any intellect, now big shots like Angel Munoz decide to put small dreams in their minds of going to Dallas to compete in gaming events and even (I shudder to say it) become.....pro.

    The game was alot of fun in the beginning , then they mixed it up with all this 'pro' mumbo jumbo and its even used to settle real grudges.

    "Walla come 1v1 bloodstrike I'll rape your mom"

    Believe me this is no exaggeration, there are about 5-6 LAN parlours that I know of that play a stage to these little happenings.

    At the end of it all I can truthfully say that Counter Strike messed up my life.

    In other news , I wrote a new song :D, I just need to sort out the lyrics and hopefully Karan and Shehara won't be arses and depend on me to sort out the violin and bass bits in the track.

    By the way,

    Neutral Milk Hotel - Oh Comely, an 8 minute song that really grabs you with its simplicity and uniqueness.The song reminded me alot of The Mars Volta - Televators actually but anyway, give it a listen if you're interested , you won't be sorry.

    Its amazing how many people I know who have blogs o.O, I started building up my link list earlier today and I checked out Chris' list and saw 3-4 people who I had no idea they blogged :|.

    Ok so thats my rant for today,

    I'll just see myself out...

    What I meant to say was "Keep the vodka away from me" but I was a little sloshed last night, and I blurted it out when I knew I was getting a buzz.

    So alot of things happened last night , most of it has eluded my memory but hell , a bottle of vodka,rum, two guitars,smokes,friends can really be the signs of clearer skies when you're feeling down.

    I do remember me and Richard playing guitar and singing with all the guys, we did Outside,Iris and Nothing Else Matters , I think I did Goodnight by myself at one point.

    I think I sent a rude sms to a random person on my phone while someone rambled on about personal problems (always happens when under the influence of a little King Roberts ;) ),one thing I was worried about was me getting really high and smashing my guitar on the ground like those wannabe rockers who seem to find enjoyment in that sort of thing,

    Hell

    If you appreciate good music, why destroy a source?.

    It would've been alot more fun however if me and Sathvik weren't the ONLY people who were wasted because if theres one thing I dislike , its people watching out for me.

    Started listening to The Crystal Method again , especially 'Weapons of mass distortion' which is (simply put) the perfect driving music, that could be said for almost every song by them anyway.

    I spent most of this morning hoping I'd make it back home safely without getting into an accident (yeah I was still a bit giddy after crashing at Hitesh's last night).

    I'll probably talk alot more about last night once I start to recall each and every embarassing and/or memorable event that occured at the time.

    Good times.

    Oh did I mention how much I hate rain?

    I pay a guy near Lamcy plaza to wash my car for 10 bucks , he does a good job, it starts drizzling the next day and my car looks like its got the measles, I wash it again yesterday by myself, and it starts to pour 2 hours after...oh speaking of the rain , while on Sathvik's rooftop I saw a Lumina SS doing this cool skid thing on the wet ground on the road near Bur Juman, made alot of noise though.

    Oh What a Night...

    ...to quote the chorus of a song by the Doobie Brothers.

    Graduation went well actually , much to my surprise I even pulled off the song nicely :) except that my fingers kept twitching and I kinda messed up a little towards the end of the song.

    "Close to flawless" according to someone who watched it.

    I got a cool purple thingy that went on my hat too (only thing we got to keep) as well as a class picture and a certificate thing saying that I have successfully completed my AS level examinations when in truth I haven't even started them yet.....crazy Cambridge folk.

    Got my car washed for 10 bucks while I was doing shisha with friends near Lamcy, seemed a bit dull until I gave Sonam and Karan a ride home.

    We started talking about how dangerous the city was these days, along with different incidents , some of them pretty.................disturbing.


    Oh did I mention that I've never been photographed as much as I was after the ceremony?, those hellspawned purple dots clouded my vision for around 30 minutes >.< , it only amplified the effect I was going through after being in close proximity with one of those spotlights aimed point blank at me for the entire time I had to stay put at my seat praying that they'd get my accursed last name right when I was called to shake hands with Mr.Ritson and receive my certificate.

    Going to go get "sloshed" tomorrow at Sathvik's rooftop , hopefully I'll get a nice buzz on ,or else I'd probably just be bored.

    Graduation Day

    6:54 AM , thought I'd grab some breakfast for the first time in a while. Practiced the Nothing Else Matters solo on my black acoustic last night (my electric is in school), so lets see if we get to the bit where the solo starts or just end it before like we planned, either way I hope I don't mess this up.

    On a lighter note , I got my car back yesterday with a new battery and a full check-up, seems to be running fine , I'll be giving it it's test run to school in a few minutes.

    inseperables.com really makes me laugh these days, a recent post on a debate over the PSP and the Ngage read out something like "I hav the n-gage n it rokz becuz it fits in mah poket" or something to that effect, needless to say I gave that individual what was coming to him.

    Back home

    Got back home feeling exhausted, closed my door and took a 5 minute nap (no I wasn't counting) then I thought I'd write about what happened.

    Got into school at around 7:30 AM as usual , and left at 9:45 to Karan's place , followed by a trip to the new Spinneys for a quick bite with the bunch , and thats when it happened.

    My beloved red 'Lude failed on me , it wouldn't start, it didn't even make a sound when I turned the key.Mariam said it was a battery issue, and with the help of Karan's Mom's Mechanic's Brother (phew) we settled on it being a dead battery.

    Apparently I had been screwed over again, the battery that was in the car wasn't powerful enough for a Prelude... car dealing dickwads.

    Played alotta foosball while I waited for a ride and I think I've developed a small bruise because of my *cough* signature playing style.

    Incidentally , A Clockwork Orange , is an amazing movie , Stanley Kubrick is a genius , and I am a content individual.

    oh and Ishyta is a girl who likes to giggle alot in public though shes great regardless.

    Morning

    I feel like shite this morning, for a number of reasons which would induce nausea in me before I'd write it down. Gonna go to school but theres no Graduation practice (apparently we can't walk right) , plus I'm doing an instrumental version of Nothing Else Matters with Hitesh on drums and Arnold on keyboards which should be good , planning on playing For Whom The Bell Tolls right after (without the teacher's consent of course ;) ) so lets see if that actually happens though I doubt it , I guess it depends on how elated we feel at the time.Feck my cars almost out of gas already , had a bad feeling about that gas station I went to.

    Nothing much to report on my first post, its 11:09 PM and I just got back home from a small family party , my hairs all fuzzy and I have school tomorrow :|

    Was mean to Antara today , but this time in person , its alot more fun when you can add expressions to put-downs.
